We were hoping to see the new Xiaomi Mi5 by the end of this summer, but it’s looking like it’ll be a quite a bit longer until we seen Xiaomi’s newest flagship. Consumers will be happy to know that not one, but two Xiaomi Mi5 models will be launched including a premium Xiaomi Mi5 Plus for those looking for a bit more.
New rumors on the Mi5 and Mi5 Plus unveiling will come by the end of November, with an official release during the 1st quarter of 2016. This is quite a difference from what we’ve been hearing, but not surprising considering the current success that Xiaomi is getting with their current lineup of smartphones. Debuting a new flagship will only hurt Xiaomi’s long-term success as their current phones are still selling quite well.
We’re also hearing that both versions of the Mi5 will feature the new Snapdragon Qualcomm 820 processor. Initial reports suggesting we would see the controversial Snapdragon 810 with and without the so-called overheating issues.
The Mi5 delays could prove to be a great choice of the world’s third leading manufacturer, especially with the idea the MI5 will be launched in more markets than previous Xiaomi smartphones. With rumors the launch will be featured in many markets in Europe such as the UK, France, Germany, and the typical markets throughout Asia and India.
The Mi5 and Mi5 Plus would share some similar specs including the 820 processor, 2.5D Glass, a resolution of 2560 x 1440, 64GB of internal memory, fingerprint scanner, and a 16MP front-facing camera. Both will also be offered in 3GB and 4GB versions
The Mi5 will have a smaller screen at 5.2 inches while the Plus will sport a 6” display. The Mi5 Plus will sport a larger, 20MP camera and will have premium price rumored to be $425 range (2600 Yuan, Rs. 27,000, and 380 Euro). The Mi5 will by slightly cheaper, and is expected to be around $375 (2300 Yuan, Rs. 24,000, and 335 Euro).
