When Google starting rolling out Android 5.0 to Nexus devices late last year, we all thought that the latest version of Lollipop would have already hit handset worldwide, but as we all know, that hasn’t happened yet.
Motorola is one of the latest to starting rolling out either 5.0 or 5.1 for many of their top handsets, and the Droid was expected to get Android 5.1 right about now. Motorola already announced the Droid 5.1 update would already be in the hands of carriers, so they could put their own touch on it before the official rollout.
Now, the Verizon Motorola Droid Android 5.1 has been delayed, as it’s been reported to still be in the lab undergoing testing. It now seems like it won’t be available through Verizon until the end of this month to early July. The latest news is liable to frustrate those sporting the Droid even more as it’s one of the last Motorola handsets to receive Lollipop.
We have just seen the Motorola Moto E Android 5.1 update from Verizon which gives us some hope for an earlier release rather than later. We’ll continue to update you on the progress of the 5.1 update for the Droid as well as other smartphones and tablets.
