Two new smartphones made their debut in China as the long-rumored Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7 just launched. With somewhat of a surprise launch in the Chinese markets, both debut sporting mid-range specs and budget friendly prices. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to the GS6, either the J5 or J7 will work.
Both are available for purchase on Samsung’s official website as the smaller J5’s price comes in at only 1398 Yuan which is around $225. The slightly later Samsung Galaxy J7 is priced at 1798 Yuan which is about $289 USD. Both handsets are the first from Samsung to sport a 5MP front-shooter and front LED flash.
Both the J5 and J7 also feature a 13MP rear camera with the wider f/1.9 aperture lens, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, expandable memory, LTE connectivity, and dual SIM. Other similarities are the colors which include black, gold, and white and Android 5.1 comes preloaded.
What sets the two apart is the size and processor. The J5 sports as 5” display with a resolution of 720p, 410 Snapdragon 1.2Ghz quad-core processor, and boasts a 2600 mAh battery. The Galaxy J7 features a bit more in the specs department boasting a 5.5” display with a 1280 x 720 resolution, 615 Snapdragon octa-core processor, and a 3000 mAh battery.
