Project Ara is still in its infancy, and is already being heralded as the next best thing. While the idea of Google’s upcoming modular smartphone is still in the beta version, we have yet to hear anything specific on the release date and price. While most of us are patiently waiting for something official, the next best thing just may be the new modular smartphone case by Nexpaq.
The modular smartphone case allows you to fully customize your smartphone through your case. Confused yet? In simpler terms, through the rear of the case you can add, take away, or enhance specific features of your phone such as more battery power, speakers, LED flashlight, and even a breathalyzer.
The case itself has a built in 1000 mAh battery that allows you to switch out modules without having to shut off your phone. Hot-swapping while the phone is still on allows you to safely, and securely add elements to your phone depending on various circumstances as you see fit. The case then powers all of the modules without having an extra effect on your phone’s battery life.
The new Nexpaq modular smartphone case will be compatible with both Android and IOS phones, and can be used with many current and upcoming models. The current models include the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S5, iPhone 6, and many more to come.
Users can also swap modules amongst each other such as family, friends, and cross-platforms. Currently, the development process is still in the works with a beta version due out by the end of this year. The official Nexpaq modular smartphone cases are due to launch worldwide January 2016, and is expected to become a top-selling tech product.
