Facebook Messenger will be seeing a new update that will be adding free voice calling within the app itself. The multi-billion company just got a bit richer while entering the video market with others such as Skype. The new Facebook messenger app update is currently being released, and those in the US and a total of 17 countries can now install the update.
Those in Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Laos, Lithuania, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, UK, US, Uruguay, with many more to follow. Over the course of the next few days, you should see the update prompt you for the install unless you have automatic updates set in which the Messenger app update will self-install.
The update will add one-touch video calling that can easily be accessed even if you’re currently messaging. The easy interface will allow you to start a text conversation and switch mid-way to a video conversation if you want to make it more personal.
The new Facebook messenger update will function between both IOS and Android devices including both tablets and smartphones.
