For Droid Turbo owners who have been patiently waiting for Android 5.0 will be happy to know that the wait is finally over, and it’s not what you are thinking. A representative from Motorola has made the official statement that the Droid Turbo Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system will be skipped in place of the new Android 5.1. The new information comes as no surprise, but it may not be what current Turbo owners wanted to hear.
With most Android smartphones having already received the original Android 5.0 update, Droid Turbo owners have been waiting for some type of announcement. The new information comes at the expense of the latest update of the Android Lollipop operating system. The new 5.1 update is said to have fixed many glitches and issues with the original release as well as adding some new features.
The Droid Turbo Android 5.1 release is rumored to be by the middle of April, which is only in a few more weeks. Verizon customers will benefit the most as the latest update adds VOLTE support which is seen in the Droid Turbo Android 5.1 release, and not in the 5.0.
Updating all Droid Turbo smartphones to 5.0 would essentially cost Motorola a lot more time and a lot of unnecessary resources where many consumers would not have benefited. At least this way, when we see the first Lollipop update, all consumers will be able to enjoy the same functionality with the 5.1 update.
