Both Amazon and Sony have been introducing new tablets time to time to get into a stronger position in the market. With the great design and powerful specs, their tablets have been able to draw the attention of the large number of gadget lovers. In this Android tablets review, you will find all the detailed pros and cons of two of their hottest devices – Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 and Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet.
Android Tablets Review: Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet
Weighing only 392g, the Xperia Z4 Tablet has become lighter than ever before. Unlike its predecessor, the back has been constructed with the high-end polycarbonate materials. It looks really great and feels very comfortable to hold. It is extremely sturdy. On top of that, it is water and dust resistant. As a result, it gets a great feedback in our Android tablets review.
With the high resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, the 10.1-inch display has become one of the most stunning tablet screens on the market. You will find an immense pleasure watching HD movies in it. However, the brightness should have been better. Sometimes, it becomes a bit difficult to see the picture clearly on the outdoors.
The 8.1-MP primary camera is supposed to take much better photos. But when you zoom in slightly, you will find a significant drop in the clarity. On the other hand, the clarity of the photos captured by the 5.1-MP secondary camera is much better.
The Snapdragon 810 processor and 3 GB RAM enables the Xperia Z4 Tablet to perform processor intensive tasks at a great pace. With the Adreno 430 GPU, you can play high quality games, like Real Racing 3, without any lag. So, in terms of performance, it definitely deserves a great feedback in our Android tablets review.
The 6,000 mAh battery is supposed to play 17-19 hours of video with a full charge. But in CNET’s battery test, it lasted 10.8 hours. Nonetheless, it’s definitely not a bad performance.
Despite having some issues with the display, the Xperia Z4 Tablet is the real rival of the mighty iPad Air 2. It looks gorgeous and works very fast. More specifically, it is a great tablet for gaming. While it is a bit more expensive than the other tablets, you will definitely not regret spending extra bucks for it.
Android Tablets Review: Amazon Fire HDX 8.9
The matte, soft touch finish has made the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 very easy to grab. The concave power and volume buttons are very easy to locate. With the slim design and cool look, it has become a great tablet that combines fashion and functionality effectively. As a result, it gets an outstanding feedback in our Android tablets review.
Having a pixel density of 339 ppi, the 8.9-inch display is able to produce an incredibly sharp view. It is really great for watching HD stream videos, movies and TV shows. We don’t have any complain regarding its performance.
The dual speakers are able to generate a buzzing sound. The sound quality is very impressive. You will never find crackling or distorting noise. Its addition has enhanced the cinematic experience significantly.
The 8-MP rear shooter can capture photos with a decent quality. However, we have noticed some image noise in the background. The colors of the captured photos are good, but they are not as sharp as they should be. The device also has a basic front camera that can record 720p videos. So, it is pretty well for making video calls.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has been packed with a bit older hardware, including Snapdragon 805 processor and Adreno 420 GPU. It also features less RAM of 2 GB. As a result, it cannot perform with perfection. Games with rich graphics tend to crash very often. However, in terms of playing video content and surfing online, we haven’t experienced any issue.
The performance of the battery is really good. In the 90 minute video loop test with full brightness, the charge dropped to only 79%, which is really impressive.
Outstanding display, buzzing speakers and cheaper price tag of $159 has made the Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 a great device for the cost conscious movie lovers. But it will never provide you with a great gaming experience.
